YOUR WORK. YOUR DEVICE.

Slerpee Privacy Policy

Effective date:

Slerpee is a Chrome extension that helps you preview and edit a page’s title and meta description for Google search results. This policy explains the information the extension uses, what stays on your device, how this website and our Chrome Web Store listing use analytics, and the choices you have.

1. Information the extension reads

To build your preview and support editing, Slerpee reads the following from the page you use it on:

  • The page’s address (URL), title, and meta description.
  • The address of its favicon, the small icon associated with the page.
  • The presence of supported SEO title and description fields in a content management system (CMS), such as WordPress with Yoast or Rank Math, or Shopify.

This information is used for the search preview and editing features. Slerpee does not read your browsing history, collect the rest of the page’s content, or monitor unrelated information you type into websites.

2. What is saved on your device

Slerpee uses Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) to save:

  • Drafts: your edited title and description, plus the time they were last changed. Each draft is associated with the page URL, with query strings and fragments removed. Slerpee keeps the 50 most recent drafts and automatically removes older ones.
  • Preferences: your light or dark preview setting and whether Serp, the mascot, is visible.

These records stay in the extension’s storage on your device. Slerpee does not upload them to a server or use Chrome’s sync storage.

You control your drafts. Select New draft to delete the saved draft for the current page. Uninstalling Slerpee removes its local extension data. This does not remove anything you have already copied elsewhere or saved in your CMS.

3. Data collection and external requests

Slerpee does not operate a server that receives your extension drafts or page metadata. The extension does not require an account, ask for your name or email address, or use analytics, tracking, or advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share extension user data.

Favicons: the preview may load the current page’s favicon from the site hosting that icon. That request can expose ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, to that site. The site’s own privacy practices apply to that request. Your saved drafts are not uploaded as part of it.

All executable extension code is included in the extension package. Slerpee does not download or run remote code.

4. Actions you choose

  • Copy tags and Copy text write your title and description to the clipboard. Slerpee does not read your clipboard. If you paste into an extension field, it receives the text you choose to paste.
  • Push to page writes your edited title and description into supported CMS SEO fields. Slerpee does not itself publish the changes; saving and publishing are controlled by your CMS.

5. Permissions, explained

Website access and content scripts
Allow Slerpee to read page metadata and favicon information across the websites you work on, detect supported CMS SEO fields, and fill those fields when you choose Push to page. They also support starting the page reader on tabs already open when the extension is installed or updated.
Side panel
Displays the preview and editing tools beside the page you are working on.
Storage
Keeps drafts and preferences locally on your device.
Scripting
Starts the page reader on tabs that were already open before installation or an update.

Slerpee’s use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Website analytics and external links

The extension practices described above are separate from visiting this website. This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and improve the site. Analytics can use cookies and process information such as the pages you visit, referral information, device and browser details, and approximate location. We also measure clicks on “Add to Chrome,” including which button was clicked. A click does not tell us whether you installed the extension. The Google tag on this website disables Google Signals and advertising personalization. We do not send extension drafts or page metadata from the extension to Google Analytics. The hosting service also processes requests needed to deliver and secure the site.

Google processes analytics information under its Privacy Policy. You can block or clear cookies using your browser settings or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. This website has no signup or data collection forms.

Following a link to another service, including X or the Chrome Web Store, takes you to a service with its own privacy policy. If you contact us through X, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond to your request.

7. Chrome Web Store listing analytics

We have enabled the Chrome Web Store’s Google Analytics 4 integration for Slerpee’s store listing. Google provides reports about visits to the listing, engagement with it, referral sources, and completed installations. The store sends an installation event when a visitor accepts Chrome’s permission prompt and completes installation.

This integration is managed by the Chrome Web Store and is separate from the analytics on our website. It does not add analytics code to the Slerpee extension or monitor your drafts, browsing activity, or use of the extension after installation. Google applies data de-identification and reporting thresholds to limit access to individual-level data in these reports.

For details, see Google’s Chrome Web Store analytics documentation and Privacy Policy.

8. Children’s privacy

Slerpee is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We will post updates on this page and revise the effective date. If the extension’s data practices change, we will update this policy before those changes take effect.
